Fatal crash may have been insurance scam
A car crash which led to the death of a 49-year-old postman may have been caused deliberately by the other driver as an insurance scam, the Volkskrant reports on Monday.
Eye witnesses and an examination of the wreckage show the black Audi which caused the crash was stationary at a junction and then drove at high speed into the post van. It is claimed that the impact caused the postman to drive into a tree, killing him instantly.
The driver of the Audi, a 21-year-old man, has been arrested. Police say he had tried to cause a crash earlier by targeting a red van.
