Labour plans to tackle the rich: Telegraaf

The Labour party (PvdA) wants to make the rich pay more towards tackling the economic crisis, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.

The paper says the party wants to increase inheritance tax and reduce mortgage tax relief on expensive homes as well as raise the top income tax rate. Earlier this month, the paper said the PvdA wanted to bring in a new tax rate of 60%.
The paper describes the package of measures as a ‘solidarity contribution’.
‘We only want to hit the richest 5%,’ the party’s finance spokesman Paul Tang told the paper.
The finance ministry is planning to cut the top rate of inheritance tax from 68% to 40% from January 1. However, Labour’s actions may lead to a delay, the paper says.
