‘Rijksmuseum renovations are on target’
The renovation of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam will be completed on time and within budget according to the culture ministry, reports the Volkskrant on Monday.
The statement follows concerns raised by the Christian Democrat MP Antoinette Vietsch after the NRC said at the weekend that new designs are being made for the museum’s entrance.
The large-scale renovation of the Rijksmuseum has already caused a number of delays and increases in cost but a spokesman for the culture ministry told the Volkskrant on Monday that the agreed budget of €366m and the 2013 completion date will be met.
The museum’s main building has already been closed for a number of years as a result of the large-scale renovation.
