Police, tax officials raid campsite
Police, tax officials and council staff were involved in a raid on a campsite in Rijsbergen, Noord-Brabant province on Tuesday to look for illegal immigrants, drugs, stolen cars and illegal buildings.
In total, 230 officials were involved in the action which had resulted in at least three arrests, 10 cars being seized and a marijuana plantation being uncovered by early Tuesday afternoon.
Immigration police were also checking the backgrounds of ten people described by the Volkskrant as ‘eastern Europeans’.
The campsite has 750 spaces but many are permanently lived in. The Volkskrant says many campers had complained about fights on the campsite and the spread of illegally-built sheds and other buildings.
