Police closed off the A28 motorway near Haren yesterday evening to rescue a duck and 13 ducklings which had wandered on to the road.


All the ducklings were saved and placed in a police car but the mother duck was killed, news agency ANP reports.
A spokesman for the animal hospital service said the ducklings were old enough to survive on their own.
