More households switch energy supplier

Some 70,000 households a month are currently switching energy supplier, a spokesman for the sector’s organisation EnergieNed says in Tuesday’s Nederlands Dagblad.

Not only budget suppliers such as EnergieDirect, but green energy firms and traditional firms such as Nuon and RWE are also managing to attract new customers, the paper says.
Most consumers opt for a fixed price contract running over several years. ‘People will make the change if they can save upwards of €100 a year,’ Hans de Kok of price comparison website PrizeWize told the paper.
However, the consumers association Consumentenbond has opened a hotline for people to report aggressive or misleading sales tactics, following a string of complaints.
