Dutch women among most emancipated

Dutch women are among the most emancipated in Europe, according to a new ranking by the national statistics office CBS.

The CBS looked at the differences between men and women’s involvement in the economy and politics and concluded that only women in Sweden, Finland and Denmark play a greater role.
For example, Dutch women are equally represented as men in senior technical and academic jobs, although they are far less visible in management functions, the CBS said.
Women account for just 26% of management jobs in Holland and only Cyprus, Malta and Denmark score worse, the CBS said.
The Baltic states, France and Germany have the most female managers.
Dutch women still only earn 64% of men’s salaries but this is largely because women often work part-time, the CBS said.
