Noord-Holland provincial council in crisis

The governing board of Noord-Holland provincial council resigned on Wednesday, a week after a highly critical report about the province’s massive losses on its investments.

Noord-Holland lost €78m of taxpayers’ money which it had invested in Iceland’s internet bank Icesave. Some of the money was itself borrowed.
A news conference is currently under way.
