Hyperactivity prescriptions continue to soar

The number of people prescribed drugs for hyperactivity and attention deficit disorders went up from 51,000 in 2005 to 94,000 last year, says prescription monitoring body SFK.

Health minister Ab Klink told MPs on Tuesday the rise was due to better recognition of ADHD and changes in the education system which mean hyperactive children are more easily identified.
