Energy firm Essent is to give all its staff a one-off bonus of €5,000 when the €9.2bn takeover by Germany’s RWE is completed.

The money should be seen as a reward for all the effort staff have put in, a spokesman told the Telegraaf.
The cash will be given to everyone on a full-time contract, including people employed via staffing agencies. Part-timers will get a pro-rata pay-out. In total 6,000 workers will benefit from the cash.
