Dalai Lama arrives in Holland

The Dalai Lama arrived in the Netherlands on Wednesday for a three-day visit during which he will meet MPs and give several speeches.

The Tibetan spiritual leader, who fled his home country 50 years ago, was last in the Netherlands 10 years ago.
Prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende will not meet the Dalai Lama. China has made it clear there will be economic consequences for the Netherlands if his visit is given official recognition.
