State sued over 1988 creche incest claim
A 25-year-old woman who was taken away from her father during a controversial incest investigation at a creche in Vlaardigen in 1988 has gone to court to win compensation for damages, Nos tv reports.
In total, 14 chidren at the Bolderkar creche were taken away from their parents after staff used anatomically-correct dolls to conclude they were the victims of incest.
A number of fathers were arrested but a court in Rotterdam threw out the three cases brought before it.
Elise Watts was three when she was taken away from her father and her lawyer Dirk Vermaat said she still bears the scars. She has also been in therapy. The affair ‘cast a black shadow over her youth,’ news agency Novum reported her as saying.
Watts now wants the state to acknowledge its mistakes, Vermaat said.
