School dances more often alcohol-free
One third of Dutch high school parties are now alcohol free, compared with one in four in 2005, says the alcohol policy institute STAP.
The percentage of children who drink alcohol at school parties if it is allowed is unchanged at 65%.
‘At school dances which are not alcohol-free, two-thirds of pupils drink too much,’ STAP researcher Veronique Bos tells the Telegraaf.
Last year 337 young teenagers were taken to hospital with alcohol poisoning.
