Man dies fleeing police in balcony jump

One man was killed and three injured when they jumped or fell from balconies after police raided several apartments in Amsterdam’s Zuidoost district, the public prosecution department said on Wednesday.

Three people jumped or fell from the block of flats known as Kikkenstein, two from the fifth floor and one from the ninth. One of them was killed and the two others seriously injured.
The fourth man was injured after falling or jumping from a fourth floor flat on the Boris Pasternakstraat.
Police raided the four flats in connection with an investigation into hard drugs. Four other people were arrested and a ‘large quantity’ of drugs was also seized, the public prosecution department said.
An investigation into the raids is now under way.
