Visitors to the Keukenhof flower gardens in Lisse reached a record 855,000 during this year’s nine-week season.
The figures, 5% up on 2008, show the tulip show has not been hit by the recession, the organisers said. While there were fewer visitors from Britain and America, there were more from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
Next year’s Keukenhof exhibition will have a Russian theme.
