FC Twente buys Iraqi international

Football club FC Twente, which ended second in the Dutch premier league this season, has made its first acquisition for next year – 24-year-old Iraqi midfielder Nashat Akram.

Akram, 75-times capped for the Iraqi team, currently plays for Al-Gharafa in Qatar and has signed for the Dutch club for three years.
In 2007 he was named Asian footballer of the year. ‘He is a young and very talented player who has a lot of experience for his age,’ Twente coach Steve McClaren told news agency ANP.
