Car sales down 28% in April

The sale of new cars fell 28% to 30,468 in April, compared with April 2008, according to car industry research group RDC Datacenter, quoted by the Telegraaf.

Sales over the first four months of the year are down almost 25% at just over 50,000, the organisation said.
The government hopes its plan to subsidise the destruction of older diesel cars will provide a boost to new car sales.
