Banks becoming healthier: central bank chief
Dutch bank balances are becoming healthier, central bank president Nout Wellink told a tv show on Tuesday evening.
‘Their balance sheet totals are shrinking but they are becoming healthier,’ Wellink said.
But reports that the banks are less reluctant to make loans were not born out by the facts, he told the show. In January and February, banks extended more loans year on year and the slight decline in March is due to the economic slowdown, Wellink said.
