Union looks into 26 breast cancer claims

The FNV trade union federation has identified 26 potential claimants for a law suit concentrating on the link between breast cancer and working night shifts, news agency ANP reports on Tuesday.

The union appealed for women to come forward last year after it emerged there may be a connection between long periods of night shifts and cancer. The short list will probably be whittled down to five cases which will go to court, ANP said.
In total, 500 women who had worked nights for at least 10 years came forward. Some 60% of them worked in healthcare.
