Tax office to focus on company cars

The tax office is to focus on detecting fraud involving company cars this year, Trouw reports on Tuesday.

Tax minister Jan Kees de Jager believes the current practice of slashing the tax on company cars if they are rarely used on private business is open to abuse.
Since the beginning of this year, 1,500 people have been given extra tax demands totalling €4m for saying they drive fewer than 500 kilometres a year privately in their company car.
