Striking Schiphol cleaners reach settlement
After two days of strikes, cleaners at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport have reached a deal with management on travel expenses and bonuses, news agency ANP reports.
Cleaners represented by the FNV trade union federation will now be paid travel costs. In addtion, they will get a one-off bonus of €150.
Employers have also agreed that cleaners who are forced to change company will also keep the same pay and conditions, ANP reports. When a company loses a cleaning contract at Schiphol the staff are often taken on by the new firm with worse pay and secondary benefits.
