Spending on organic food rose by 12% or €580m last year, according to research group Bio-monitor.


Spending on food as a whole rose 7%. Nevertheless organic food still accounts for just 2.1% of total food sales.
The national statistics office CBS said on Wednesday that organic grains, fruit and vegetables now account for 2% of Dutch farm produce.
