Rotterdam police have hat cameras

A number of police officers in the Rotterdam region are being equipped with special hats fitted with cameras, Trouw reports on Tuesday.

Thirty hats have been fitted with the tiny cameras, which cost €2,000 each, Trouw says. The hats will be used during risky events, such as football matches, but will first hit the streets during the Queen’s Day celebrations on Thursday.
The aim is to reduce violence against police officers. There were 160 attacks on police officers in the first three months of this year, Rotterdam police chief Simone Steendijk told Trouw.
British police have used bodycams for some time and there has been a noticeable reduction in violence against police officers, Trouw says.
