Holland now second biggest EU exporter

The Netherlands has surpassed France to become the second biggest export country in the European Union behind Germany, the national statistics office CBS said on Wednesday.


Total exports rose 7% last year, despite the 5% decline in the final quarter.
Some 50% of the Netherlands’ exports consists of goods in transit, such as computers from China which are imported into Rotterdam and then exported to other EU countries, the CBS said.
