Fortis trading to be halted Tuesday
Trading in what remains of the Fortis financial services group is to be halted on Tuesday in connection with this week’s shareholders meetings on the future of the company, news agency Novum said on Monday.
Shareholders are being asked to vote on the sale of a large part of Fortis’ Belgian activities to French bank BNP Paribas.
On Sunday, Fortis’ biggest shareholder, Chinese insurance group Ping An, said it would vote against the break up of the group. Ping An owns 4.8% of Fortis.
