Former NIBC boss gets €1m pay-off

The former CEO of merchant bank NIBC took away a golden handshake of €1.1m when he left the bank last year, according to its annual report.

Michael Enthoven and fellow director Jurgen Stegman left the bank at the beginning of 2008 after it emerged that NIBC had to write off €141m in risky sub prime investments.
‘We did not do our homework properly,’ Enthoven was quoted as saying at the time.
Last year, the finance ministry appointed Enthoven to the supervisory board of newly-nationalised ABN Amro.
