Belgium now eyes Dick Advocaat
Belgium is now considering asking Dutchman Dick Advocaat, currently coach at Zenit St Petersburg, to be the new coach of its national team, the AD reports on Wednesday.
Advocaat’s contract with the Russians expires at the end of this year.
Earlier it emerged that Belgium had approached Louis van Gaal, who took Alkmaar’s AZ to the Dutch league title this season.
But now Belgium fears Van Gaal could be too expensive, the AD says. Advocaat, one of the best paid coaches in European football is no longer driven by money and would like to be closer to home, the paper claims.
