Unions don’t rule out pension age increase
The CNV trade union federation and white collar union MHP are prepared to talk about eventually increasing the state pension age, CNV chairman René Paas told Nos tv news on Tuesday.
But people who have worked for 45 years should still be able to retire at 65, Paas said. In a poll, some 79% of CNV members said they would back an increase in the official retirement age if this exception was made.
‘Employers should not be able to discriminate against older staff… but should develop a policy allowing them to actually work longer,’ Paas said.
The FNV trade union federation, which is the biggest in the country, says it is opposed to an increase in the state pension age.
