Turkish Airlines to pay crash victims

Turkish Airlines is prepared to pay compensation to everyone on board the Boeing 737 which crashed just before landing at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport last Wednesday, according to news agency ANP.

Every passenger will get at least €5,000 whether injured or not, ANP said. Turkish Airlines had previously said people who had been hospitalised would get €10,000 and the payout to relatives of the nine people killed would be €50,000, ANP reported.
Earlier, the Volkskrant reported that some 40 survivors had signed up for a possible damages claim.
Survivor Henk Heijloo, who says he has constant back pain since the crash, plans to set up a foundation on Wednesday to fight for compensation.
According to Dutch media reports, the safety council may make its preliminary conclusions about the cause of the crash known later on Wednesday.
