Traffic noise improvements don’t work
Efforts to reduce the impact of traffic and aircraft noise on homes are ‘insufficient and time consuming’, largely due to a lack of money, says the government’s auditors office in a new report.
In addition, it is unclear if efforts to improve air quality will actually succeed. ‘The Netherlands is not managing to meet two European air quality standards on schedule,’ the audit office says.
The government has applied to the European Commission for an extension to the deadlines.
