Soldier arrested after car chase

A 20-year-old soldier was arrested at his home in the Bible-belt village of Staphorst on Tuesday morning following a police chase, reports ANP news agency.


The man was driving at 140 kph in a 50 kph zone and ignored a stop sign. When police gave chase, he sped off. After driving into a dead end, the man and his 29-year-old passenger continued their flight on foot.
Police told ANP the man was found to have been drinking and had an alarm pistol and fireworks in his car. His driving licence has been confiscated.
