School finds 19,000 guilders in cupboard
A school in Groningen has found 19,000 guilders in a broom cupboard, reports Friday’s Volkskrant. The box of money was found by an archivist who is writing a history of the vocational training college.
The money was probably collected from pupils when the school was merged with others in the area 10 years ago, a spokesman told the paper. ‘There was a list with the money showing who had paid and who had not,’ he said.
The cash has now been exchanged for €8,500. The school does not yet know what it will spend the money on.
