Redundancy reform talks to restart

Social affairs minister Piet Hein Donner is to revive the debate on redundancy law, he told a parliamentary debate on Thursday evening.

A parliamentary majority of Christian Democrats, Labour and Socialists want the minister to restart talks with unions and employers to clarify his suggestion of putting an age-related limit of €75,000 on pay-offs, reports the Telegraaf.
It was this suggestion that became the sticking point in earlier talks on redundancy which began in 2007. Earlier this year, the council of state said the plan was unworkable.
