The construction sector had a record year in 2008 with turnover up by almost 10% to over €90bn, according to figures from the national statistics office CBS.

However growth was significantly flatter in the last three months of the year as a result of the economic crisis, the CBS says. Turnover rose 12% in the first three quarters but only 6% in the final period.
