Probe into insurers owning hospitals

Health minister Ab Klink is setting up a committee to investigate whether health insurers should be allowed to be part owners of hospitals, reports Nos tv.

The move follows plans by health insurer DSW to acquire a stake in the Vlietland hospital in Schiedam.
The minister is not against the deal in principle but MPs are afraid that patients may be restricted in their choice of hospitals if health insurers own them.
The committee is expected to publish its report in May, says Nos.
