Power cuts averaged 22 minutes a year

Homes were hit by power cuts for an average of 22 minutes last year, 11 minutes less than in 2007, according to latest figures from the association of energy network operators.

Digging work was the single most common cause (30%) of the power cuts. Statistically, every household in the country can expect a power cut once every three years, says Netbeheer Nederland.
The biggest fall-out last year was in Tilburg where 25,000 households were without electricity for several hours on January 17.
