The man shot dead in front of the Jan Tabak hotel in Bussum yesterday has been identified as property tycoon Peter Petersen, known as Dikke (fat) Peter, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.

The paper says Petersen ‘was known to the police’ and did business with the property businessman Kees Houtman who was shot dead in 2005. Houtman is said to be one of the men blackmailed by gangland boss Willem Holleeder.
The car used by the gunman or gunmen who shot Petersen was found burned out in Almere.
The Telegraaf says this is the fourth shooting related to organised crime in the Netherlands within a month.
