Man killed in school playground: update

A school lunch-time supervisor has been stabbed to death on a primary school playground in Amsterdam close to where children were playing, according to media reports.

Local tv station AT5 reports on Tuesday afternoon that the man was attacked at around 12.30 hours on the playground shared by three primary schools in Amsterdam Zuid. A number of children were playing outside at the time and witnessed the attack, AT5 says.
The body was covered by a white sheet but lay in full view of the schools for two hours before a blue police tent covered the scene, according to AT5.
Children not in danger
The head teacher of the Willemspark school confirmed in a note to parents that the dead man was a lunch-time supervisor. ‘None of the children were in danger,’ the statement said.
Some reports say the man was employed via a staffing agency which focuses on the over-65s.
Parents waiting outside the school to pick up their children told reporters they were shocked at what had happened. ‘It gives you a real fright,’ said one mother. ‘At first I thought it was a gangland killing.’
