Jobless may get temp job with the army

The defence ministry is talking to around 10 firms, including steel producer Corus and truck maker DAF, about the possibility of offering workers jobs with the armed forces, reports Saturday’s Volkskrant.

The armed forces currently have 7,600 vacancies and officials have drawn up a list of 1,500 jobs that could be done by civilians on a temporary basis.
The military union ACOM has no objection to the move, the paper says.
