Fury over convicted paedophile taxi driver

The town of Valkenswaard wants to cancel a contract with local taxi firm Botax because it has allowed a convicted paedophile to transport unaccompanied children, the Telegraaf reports.

The man was found guilty of abusing a nine-year-old girl in 2007 and it had been agreed that he would not be allowed to drive children as part of a school transport contract.
A spokesman for the taxi firm admitted that the man had however driven children to and from school.
Botax had wanted to sack the driver but ‘it was too expensive and his crime was not serious enough to merit sacking on the spot,’ the spokesman said. Nevertheless, he was sacked last Monday, the Telegraaf said.
