Finance minister to act on bonuses
Finance minister Wouter Bos is to take extra steps to tackle bonuses paid out to staff by financial services groups which have been bailed out by the government, Nos tv reports on Monday.
Quoting a draft memo by Bos to MPs, Nos says the finance minister is looking into what measures can be taken to stop extra bonuses being paid out in 2009.
For example, companies which ask for state support will have to meet tougher rules on bonuses and limit them to what has been agreed in formal pay and conditions agreements (cao). Bos is also considering introducing a ceiling on bonuses and an extra tax charge, Nos says.
