Fewer Japanese, US tourists in Amsterdam
The number of Japanese tourists visiting Amsterdam in the first two months of this year has plunged 42% compared with 2008, while American tourist numbers are down 35%, according to city council figures.
‘This is a group of tourists who spend a lot,’ local council official Lodewijk Asscher told tv station AT5.
In particular, visits to museums are down 21%, while other attractions report a 27% fall-off in visitor numbers.
