Dutch support for nuclear power grows

While 23% of the Dutch are fully behind expanding nuclear power, a further 39% say they are open to building more nuclear power stations if their fears about safety can by allayed, according to research by Accenture, quoted in the Financieele Dagblad.

And almost half of those questioned by Accenture think power firm Delta should be allowed to expand nuclear operations at Borssele – Holland’s only nuclear power plant.
In other research carried out by Groningen University and a regional newspaper, 60% of those polled supported the building of a new nuclear power station at the industrial port of Eemshaven. The provincial council is opposed to nuclear power stations because of the problems of waste disposal.
