Defence ministry objects to high-rise
Defence ministry objections are putting paid to plans to build a number of high-rise buildings and wind turbines, the Volkskrant reports on Monday.
The paper says the building of a 262-meter skyscraper in Utrecht, a 120-meter block in Enschede and a number of wind parks are under threat because they are close to defence ministry radar centres.
High-rise building are not allowed with 28 kilometers of a radar installation.
‘Lots of local authorities have problems with this. Something must be done,’ a spokesman for the local council organisation VNG told the paper.
The Volkskrant claims 13% of current wind park projects are under threat because of the defence ministry rules.
