Survivor escapes second plane incident

The AD newspaper carries an interview with businessman Rob de Knecht, who has survived two plane accidents in eight days.

Last Thursday De Knecht was on his way from Istanbul to north Iraq for his work when the plane he was on hit a lamp post while taxi-ing to the runway and had to be evacuated. And now he has been left with four broken ribs and a head wound after this week’s crash near Schiphol.
After the plane hit the ground, he says he first searched for his coat and laptop and managed to get outside. ‘It was very strange… intense silence,’ he told the paper. ‘There you are standing next to a plane in the mud.’
De Knecht even went back inside the plane twice, once to fetch his glasses and once to fetch his mobile phone.
Although he normally flies business class, this time the businessman was in economy. ‘That was my good luck. There is nothing left of the business class. That is where people died,’ he tells the paper.
