Royal trusts are run from queen’s office

A total of 12 private trusts, several of which look after money for members of the royal family, are run from queen Beatrix’s private offices, prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende told MPs on Wednesday.

The trusts are located at the Noordeinde palace for reasons of privacy, the prime minister said.
Earlier this month, the Volkskrant newspaper revealed that one trust run from the palace for Beatrix’s sister Christina is located in a tax haven.
