Randstad fined for unfair competition

Dutch staffing agency Vediorbis, now owned by Randstad, has been fined €18.2m by the French competition authorities for sharing client information with peers Adecco and Manpower in 2003 and 2004, reports news agency Reuters.

Adecco, the world’s biggest staffing concern, was fined €34.2m and US group Manpower €42m, says Reuters.
In a statement, Randstad said it has a €35m provision in place to cover any fines. ‘In relation to this case clear commitments have been provided to prevent any infringement in the future,’ the statement said.
