Police out in force at anti-Wilders demo

Mounted police officers and the anti-riot squad were out in force to ensure that a demonstration against anti-immigration MP Geert Wilders outside a meeting he was attending in Waddinxveen on Monday evening did not get out of control, reports Nu.nl.

But the demonstration by around 20 protestors passed off peacefully.
The meeting is part of Wilders’ political tour to make contact with his supporters across the country. His populist right-wing PVV party has nine seats in parliament.
Police cordonned off the area around the meeting and checked the bags of those going into the hall.
