People switching careers could get bonus

Workers who decide to go and work in a completely different sector should be eligible for extra cash to help them retrain, says social affairs minister Piet Hein Donner in Tuesday’s Trouw.

Donner says the idea could particularly benefit the healthcare and education sectors where there is a shortage of skilled staff.
The plan is currently being considered by the cabinet, Trouw says. One condition being considered is that employers would have to take on job switchers before they have been retrained.
