Hydro power to get green energy subsidy

The Dutch government is to give subsidies for hydro (water) power production for the first time this year.

Hydro power projects will be eligible for government funding of up to 12.5 euro-cents per kilowatt hour of electricity produced. There are, says the economic affairs ministry, enough signals from the market that the potential for hydro power will be realised.
Meanwhile, grants for producing electricity from biomass have been extended this year to include frying oil and waste from the food industry.
